Technology Overview

Remote Appearances (Zoom):
The Court maintains a public Zoom docket schedule listing departments and times for criminal, civil, and specialty calendars. Participants must join the correct department link, identify themselves properly, and observe courtroom decorum. Unauthorized recording is prohibited. Judicial officers may require in-person appearance at their discretion.

Electronic Filing (Local Rule 30):
Local Rule 30 governs the e-filing and electronic service of documents. Attorneys must file electronically in authorized case types through the Odyssey File & Serve system. The rule defines required formats, technical limits, and filing timelines. Non-attorneys may continue filing by paper if preferred.

Remote Proceeding Authority (LGR 19):
Local General Rule 19 authorizes judicial officers to allow or require remote appearances where appropriate. The rule stresses that remote participation remains at the judge’s discretion and must comply with decorum standards and technological reliability expectations.

Exhibits and Evidence Submission:
Departments may set individual procedures for exhibit submission. Exhibits for remote hearings should be pre-marked and provided to all parties and the court as directed. Audio and video evidence should be provided via an appropriate medium such as USB or secure link, consistent with the Court’s local rules.
