The United States District Court for the Western District of Washington (Tacoma Division) supports video and telephonic hearings with judge approval, uses advanced courtroom technology for evidence and display systems, and requires electronic filing via its CM/ECF NextGen system.

Remote Hearings (Video/Telephone):
The Court authorises video hearings (via WebEx or ZoomGov) or telephone appearances when approved by the presiding judge. Attorneys receive a web meeting invitation approximately 30 minutes before the scheduled hearing for setup and audio/video check.

Courtroom Technology & Evidence Presentation:
Each courtroom, including those in the Tacoma Division, has integrated teleconference and video-conference capabilities. A touch-screen control panel allows attorneys to select the evidence display source and direct view to bench, parties, jury, or gallery.

Electronic Filing Requirements (CM/ECF):
All filings in the Western District of Washington are submitted via the CM/ECF NextGen system. Attorneys must register and follow the published “How to E-File” procedures, which apply uniformly across the Seattle and Tacoma divisions.

Public Access & Hearing Recordings:
Some hearings allow public access via teleconference. Audio recordings of hearings held in the Tacoma and Seattle divisions are captured digitally; however, recording or retransmission by participants or observers is prohibited.
